The Learning Detectives began their exciting journey to the Land of Learning this week with a visit to Year 2.
This group of 4 are helping the school as it encourages children to develop important learning characteristics. These characteristics are part of a the Building Learning Power approach we’ve told everyone about and, at Southill, the qualities are represented by different animals.
Today, the Learning Detectives went into Year 2 to observe the children in a maths lesson. They were particularly looking for examples of resilience (Captain Shelby, the tortoise!) in learning and had some useful things to look for on their recording sheets – such as how independently they worked, what they did when they were stuck, how well they listened, etc.
Year 2 are an excellent class for spotting resilience – lots of resourcefulness, too – and there was a lot of information on their sheets as the Learning Detectives fed back to the class about what they’d seen. Much of it was very positive – but they had some things for some of the class to work on, too.
Excellent work, Learning Detectives!
